I have personally found yoga to be my most favorite way to relax and stay in shape, and I listen to the Smiling Ear when I do my yoga excersizes. By spending a relatively short amount of time each day, 30 minutes to an hour, I meditate using deep breathing techniques, stretch and strengthen muscles and message muscles and internal organs. This greatly improves the bodyÕs vascular circulation and also circulation and message for the channels or meridians (the invisible Pathways of Qi) of the body.
Many people mistakenly believe that Yoga is only for stretching, meditation and staying limber... which it accomplishes very well. But many forms are excellent for strength training, and in fact will take most people several sessions in order to build the muscle and balance to perform the exercises. Taking a class or practicing with a personal instructor is very beneficial, but I find that DVDÕs, and in particular Rodney YeeÕs series of DVDÕs (and VHS tapes) to be an excellent way of practicing yoga, especially for my busy schedule. Rodney has a set of DVDÕs for beginners and advanced students. He breaks the exercises into well defined segments and instruction on each technique with excellent video production. He also shows beginning, intermediate and advanced forms the exercies which I find to be very helpful. The following is a good selection of Rodney YeeÕs DVDÕs that I recommend. | |
